Men's tennis lands three on ITA All-America team

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men's tennis team saw three individuals earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American honors when the final rankings were released on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomores Thomas Grinberg and Vincent Suillerot and junior Jaime Bueno all found themselves ranked within the top 20 in the final ITA DII Singles rankings of 2017 to claim All-American honors.

Grinberg, who played No. 1 singles all year for the Lions, earned the No. 5 spot. He was named the ITA South Region Rookie of the Year, while also earning First Team All-SSC in singles and doubles. He finished with a 13-2 record.

Suillerot, the Lions' No. 2 singles player, came in at No. 16. He was named Second Team All-SSC for singles and First Team for doubles with Grinberg as his partner. Suillerot went 13-3 at Flight No. 2 in his first season for the Green and Gold.

Bueno finished with his highest singles ranking to date, falling right behind Suillerot at No. 17. He wrapped up his junior campaign with a perfect 15-0 record at No. 3 singles, earning First Team All-SSC honors. He was also named the ITA National and South Region Player to Watch for 2017.

On the doubles side, Grinberg and Suillerot were ranked as the No. 4 doubles pair in the nation, earning ITA All-American Doubles honors as well. The duo went 13-5 on the season, all at Flight No. 1.

As a team, the Lions finished as the No. 8 team in the nation in the final ITA National Team Rankings of 2017. Saint Leo ended with a 13-5 record.
